Aerialize: Sydney Aerial Theatre is a leading aerial and circus arts training centre and performance company in Sydney, it founded in 1999 by Shelalagh McGovern and Aimee Thomas to promote circus and aerial skills in the community. Aerialize offers our students and the wider community access to expert instruction in aerial and circus arts. Our aim is to provide our students with performance opportunities and industry training, as well as creating innovative and dynamic aerial theatre using professional performers for audiences across Australia and Asia.
Aerialize runs courses that are fun and challenging in a safe and comfortable environment for people of all ages and abilities. These courses include static trapeze, silks/tissue, Spanish web, acro-balance, acrobatics, hula hoops, juggling, Chinese Pole, contortion and more. Students attend our courses for leisure, recreational, educational and vocational purposes. We have an ever expanding network of experienced professional performers and instructors to ensure a dynamic and progressive environment for teachers and students alike.

Macquaire Bank, Johnson & Johnson, IBM, Telstra, Vodafone, Nokia, Coca Cola Amatil, Ernst & Young, Sony, Maserati, Westpac, St George and NAB, Insurance Council of Australia, Schizophrenia Research Institute, Property Council, The Strand, Westfield Centres, Wesley Mission, Blacktown City Council, and local councils and schools. We perform at all the major venues in Sydney and Australia and have performed in Europe and south-east Asia. Aerialize performers have appeared in Mission Impossible II, Uncle Toby TVC, NAVY TVC (UK, US), Splenda TVC (US), Ikea print ad, Foxtel TV1 Summer identity 2008 and an AFI short film. The Aerialize training institute has appeared on Sydney Weekender, Mornings with Kerri-Anne, ABC J TV, Nickelodeon, Girl TV and in the Hi 5 Travelling Circus DVD. Aerialize has performed live in the Sydney Festival on the Opera House steps with Spanish company Les Comediens, In the 2000 Sydney Olympic Opening Ceremony, Dance Trax - the Studio, Adelaide Fringe Festival, Hoopla, Cockatoo Island Festival, The Great Escape, Playground Weekender, We Love Sounds, Sleaze Ball, the Inaugural Sydney Children’s Festival, Sydney Fringe Festival and at the National Australian Circus Conferences. Aerialize instructors are currently training performers from the Wiggles and Hi 5.
