Circus Skool – 2009

Circus Skool was a eight week long after school workshop supported by Marrickville council. Run by the successful format established with Circus Factory, this project continued through subsidized classes to a select number of participants.

Circus Factory - 2008

Circus Factory is a free six-week, after school recreation program, supported by Marrickville council that runs from 4:30 – 6:00pm. This program will provide children, aged 8-12years old, living in the local area access to artistic expression and exercise. It is an opportunity for young people who do not readily gain access to extra curricular activities to experience a fun and healthy form of recreation and use circus skills for social change.

Aerialize is now accepting applications for student positions. To be eligible, the applicant must be living in the local government area and must not already be participating in any Aerialize classes.

Please email or phone Aerialize to get a copy of the registration form.

Circus Arts 2005

In Term 2, 2005 Aerialize ran a program called Circus Arts in conjunction with Marrickville Council. Its aim was to provide children living in the Marrickville area, between the ages of 8 and 12, who would otherwise not have access to extra activities, with the opportunity to participate in aerial and circus workshop. The children learnt circus and drama skills, clowning, trapeze, ropes, and acro-balance.

Strengthening Families 2003

In April 2003 Aerialize received a grant from Marrickville Council to run a specialised program called Strengthening Families. Aerialize instructors worked with parents and their children in developing aerial and circus skills together.

The workshops focused on learning new skills and putting these skills into a performance context. The parents and children developed duo aerial acts, a group acro-balance act, a hula hoop and a mini- tramp routine. The aim of the workshop was to create opportunities for expression, tolerance, fairness, trust and community involvement. The group learnt to work together very well and quickly developed a strong system of trust and communication.

Safe Ways to Play 2001

A project developed by Aerialize with Marrickville council teaching young children around the Marrickville community safe and fun ways to play. The project provided the children access to circus and aerial skills and the children performed the skills learnt at the Marrickville Festival in 2001.

Circus for Young Mums - Campbelltown

Aerialize worked with the Benevolent Society of NSW to provide circus and aerial skills development for young mums in the Campbelltown community. The workshops helped to develop a sense of trust amongst the young women and increase a sense of identity and belonging. A workshop for young children in the Campbelltown area was also offered.
