Aerialize Sydney Aerial Theatre Terms & Conditions 2012
PAYMENT
Enrolments for a course are secured by full payment prior to the start date of the course or class. Tuition should be paid by using one of the payment options:
a) On line on the Aerialize Website
b) A cheque or money order made out to Aerialize – Sydney Aerial Theatre sent to or paid at the Aerialize office.
c) In Cash at the Aerialize office during normal office hours 10am – 5pm.
If you are paying by cheque or money order through the mail you should be aware that by the time your booking has been received the class may be full.
Aerialize reserves the right to cancel any class after the second week of the session if the class does not obtain minimum enrolment. In the event of a cancellation because a class does not meet the minimum enrolment, a full refund of the unused portion of the tuition will be made, or the unused portion may be credited toward another Aerialize class.
(ASSOCIATE) MEMBERSHIP FEE
All students who wish to enroll in an Aerialize class or course are required to pay an annual membership fee. Membership is for one year from the date of purchase or you can purchase a Life Membership that is a once only payment. (Currently we have a Special Offer for Life Membership that ends on the 31st Jan 2012) Only one membership fee is required for two or more children in the one family. Membership is to Aerialize – Sydney Aerial Theatre school and performance troupe, but not as a voting member of the Association.
OPEN TRAINING
Open training is available to intermediate and advanced students who are enrolled in a full term class at Aerialize. Beginner students who wish to attend open training must have completed at least two terms of Aerialize classes and receive permission from their instructor and the office before attending open training.
Open training runs from 1:30- 4pm on Saturdays during the term. The cost for open training is $10.00 per session, which is to be handed to the head trainer on arrival. Multi Passes to Open Training are available on the Website and offer up to 20% Discounts for casual classes.Students are required to sign in the open training logbook. Students must stay to pack up all the aerial equipment and crash mats before leaving. Open training is not a time to be taught, or to teach new tricks to one another. Only skills learnt in class, on the apparatus that you receive lessons at Aerialize for can be practiced. Aerialize reserves the right to change or cancel open training at any time. During rehearsals for the annual show open training is replaced by company rehearsals.
REFUNDS AND MAKE-UPS
Any student who withdraws from a course one week before the first class will be entitled to a refund less a $30 administration fee. A student who withdraws from a class less than one weeks notice before the first class receives a 50% refund, or the student can transfer their fees to a following term. Transfer of fees is available for use within the two following terms. Tuition payment is for the entire course, and no refund will be made for missed classes or discontinuation of the course once started. If a Student is Sick or Injured provided they have contacted the Training Co-ordinator will be able to credit the missed classes to another Term or Class.
DROP-INS
Due to safety reasons, drop-in classes are not available for new aerial students.
Currently drop-ins are available for new students in the Hula Hoop and Chinese Pole classes. The drop-in fee for hula is $15, and drop in to pole is $30. Please ensure you bring your $25 membership fee if you are not a member.
STUDENT CONDUCT
Students are advised to wear appropriate training clothing for their class. Students are asked not to wear shoes on the mats or aerial equipment. It is advised not to wear jewellery, belts, buckles or other hard materials when attending classes. Instructors have the right to decline entry to late or disruptive students. If a student is late, disruptive or fails to follow the Trainers directions they may be asked to leave the Class. No refunds or credits are paid in these circumstances. Students must participate in the class warm up which is conducted in class prior to using the aerial equipment. No student is to touch or change any of the aerial or rigging equipment in the training space. Instructors will encourage students to work with a buddy and pace themselves.
Students should be aware of their own strength and abilities, and never push themselves if injured. If a student is unsure of any skills, they are to always take the option they feel most comfortable with once they have discussed their concerns with their instructor.
CLASS LEVELS
Aerialize has developed class levels to ensure that students work at a pace appropriate to their skill and ability. Aerialize Instructors and staff will advise students when they are ready to proceed to a new level. Children in the Saturday classes will be invited by instructors to move up when it is deemed ready. Aerialize instructors and staff reserve the right to decide which class a student is required to attend.
PRIVATE INSTRUCTION
Private instruction is available upon special request. Due to the heavy use of the training space, private instruction times are dependant on the availability of the instructors and training venue. Private lessons are not taught while scheduled term classes or workshops are running. To book a private lesson you will need to contact the office on 9560 1233.
HARASSMENT
Aerialize has a policy of zero tolerance to harassment or bullying of any kind;
Harassment in the Class environment includes a wide range of deliberate and unintentional behaviour which may humiliate, intimidate or offend and which are unwelcome and uninvited.
It includes behaviour which may be written, verbal, non-verbal or physical (including transmission of inappropriate electronic communications and display of inappropriate material from the internet) and is of a sexual nature or is based on:
Race, where race includes colour, nationality and ethnic or national origin;
Sex;
Sexual orientation, lawful sexual activity or gender identity;
Marital status;
Parental status, pregnancy or breastfeeding;
Physical features;
Impairment or disability including, for example, total or partial loss of body function or body part, mental or psychological disorder, disease, malformation or disfigurement;
Age;
Religious belief or activity;
Status as a carer;
Membership of a trade union or other industrial employee organisation;
Political belief or activity or industrial activity;
Personal association with someone who has, or is assumed to have, one of these personal characteristics.
Harassment has the effect of offending, humiliating or intimidating the person at whom it is directed. It makes the Class environment unpleasant and sometimes even hostile. If a person is being harassed or bullied, their ability to train and to perform effectively can be affected.
If you feel like you are being harassed or bullied in any way it is important that you bring this to the attention of the administration of Aerialize through the Training Co-ordinator or the General Manager, who will investigate and deal with any complaint.
A member who is found to have harassed or bullied another member will have their membership cancelled.
SMOKING, ALCOHOL AND DRUGS
Aerialize is a smoke free and a drug free environment. If you must smoke you are required to leave the Great Hall and go to the area surrounding the Hall. Any member suspected of being under the influence of Alcohol or Drugs will be asked to leave the Training Space. There is obviously a serious safety issue if a student is affected by alcohol or/and drugs.
INDEMNITY FORM 2012
Health
I declare that there is no known reason why I/the participant shouldn’t participate in Circus related activity.
If there are underlying health issues I will ring the Training coordinator and discuss my suitability for Classes prior to making a booking.
I give Aerialize and its agents permission to call an ambulance in the event of an emergency.
Consent to photograph
I give my consent for photographs and/or stories about me/the participant to be included in Aerialize publicity.
Dangerous Activity
Some Circus activities can be dangerous as they involve working at heights, explosive physical skills and reliance on precision timing.
In consideration of me/my child being accepted as a member of Aerialize- Sydney Aerial Theatre, I hereby agree and declare that should I/the participant be permitted to take part in any activities, circus related events organised or conducted by or at the premises of Aerialize - Sydney Aerial Theatre, I/the participant do so entirely and absolutely at my own risk and I agree that I/the participant will not make any claim against Aerialize - Sydney Aerial Theatre or the teachers or any member of Aerialize - Sydney Aerial Theatre for or in respect of any loss or injury to property or person (including injury resulting in death) which I/the participant may suffer during the course of or in consequence of any activity, circus related event.
